You Can Run But You Can't Hide

March 8, 2021

When Pharaoh heard of this matter, he sought to kill Moses. But Moses fled from the face of Pharaoh and dwelt in the land of Midian; and he sat down by a well.

~Exodus 2:15~

Sometimes we think that we can run away from our problems and they will just be a distant memory. Our fear or panic gets in the way of what we should be doing. When Moses was born he began his life running away, obviously not by his own choice, however to avoid being killed as a newborn.

"But when she could no longer hide him, she took an ark of bulrushes for him, daubed it with asphalt and pitch, put the child in it, and laid it in the reeds by the river’s bank."

(Exodus 2:3)

As Moses grew he chose to make a bad decision and let his anger get the best of him. He killed an egyptian and proceeded to hide their body in the sand. "So he looked this way and that way, and when he saw no one, he killed the Egyptian and hid him in the sand." (Exodus 2:12)

Moses again was hiding and running away, for his life again was threatened for what he had done. It says he looked one way and then the other before killing this man, little did Moses know God was always watching.

Moses let his emotions get the best of him and the only thing he knew best to do was run and hide. This was normal for him. What Moses didn't know was there was a special annointing put in place on his life that he could not hide from. When God came to Moses to present him with this calling, Moses of course hesitated and asked questions; "But Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?” (Exodus 3:11)

It had been years of Moses hiding out and now the Lord was telling him to go back and to basically put himself out there on the front lines. All this time in Moses' life he was comfortable hiding out and just waiting for his life to go by. We can attempt to create our own destiny but eventually it will catch up to us. God put Moses on a large mission and now it was time for Moses to face his fears head on. The beauty in it, he would never be alone. God promised he was with him and they would see His glory. "So He said, “I will certainly be with you. And this shall be a sign to you that I have sent you: When you have brought the people out of Egypt, you shall serve God on this mountain.”

(Exodus 3:12)

The Father's intention was to bring His people out of Egypt to worship Him. He was to use the very man who had ran away from Egypt to do so. This would bring much honor to His Name. We can think that we can run away from our problems all we want, however God is right there watching us. There is nothing that He cannnot see or know. "The eyes of the Lord are in every place, Keeping watch on the evil and the good." (Proverbs 15:3)

We can focus on making our own decisions that go along with what we are "used to" or what seems normal to us; in the end God always gets the last say. When God annoints His children to do unthinkable things for Him, He will have them done.

"So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it."

(Isaiah 55:11)

God's work in Moses was brilliant. He saved His children from slavery, brought them out to praise Him all while restoring Moses' fears and concerns about his own life. The Lord's hand works many wonders at once. He is very strategic with His timing and His grace. When we feel like we just want to run away, hide or ignore what we feel we should be doing for God we must take a step back and remember the burning bush. God will come to us one way or another. He wants us to face our problems head on and trust in Him to be there with us to get through them. With Him on our side there is nothing to fear.

"Though an army may encamp against me, My heart shall not fear; Though war may rise against me, In this I will be confident."

(Psalms 27:3)

Even though Moses faced an incredible army, a bunch of whining israelites and wandered around for many years in the desert; he trusted in God. He was being restored in the places he lacked for so long. He continuously encouraged the people as they questioned God. He began to teach the true fear of God. "Then you will understand the fear of the Lord , And find the knowledge of God." (Proverbs 2:5)

Although Moses' ending wasnt as great as the beginning, he still went out understanding the true fear and reverence of God that made him surrender his all to Him. No longer was he hiding but he was fully in the open till the day he took his last breath. God's purposes are used through those of us we least expect. We can't simply avoid something uncomfortable God is asking of us. We must submit and be the help He is calling us to be. If there is something you are running from today, something that you are avoiding or something you just don't feel like God can use you for; go to Him and pray that He gives you the strength to endure what so ever you need to, the courage to say yes to Him always and the confidence to stand in front of an army the way Moses was able to do. Obviously we are not Moses, but with God, things can one day seem this way as we are called to do things we once feared to do. God is bigger then all of it. We can do anything with Him by our side! "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."

(Philippians 4:13)

Let us draw near to Jesus with our hearts and ask Him what it is He needs us to do for Him, even if it is not a huge "Moses style" calling, He still needs each and everyone of us to bring kingdom to earth. It is impossible to hide from God, no matter what we may choose to do.

Prayer:

Father God, thank you for reaching me when I began to run away from my own problems. Thank you for the love You have for all of Your children. I know You wish to use all of us in Your plans for this world. I pray more people will surrender to what so ever their purpose may be for You. Show me how I can continue to walk in Your path and be a blessing for Your kingdom. I declare not to run from You and to trust in You. No matter how uncomfortable it may get or how many may be against me, I shall not fear for You are with me. Nothing shall by any means harm me, for my life is in Your hands. Praises be to the Most High for Your amazing works through Your creation. May all glory be given to You. In the Name of Your Son and my King, Yeshua. Amen.
