Speak these things, exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no one despise you.
~Titus 2:15~
Authority is known by the natural and the supernatural. It is a power filled word that directs attention to whoever we are under.
Authority is the legitimate power that a person or a group of persons possess and practice over other people.
God formed it all, He carries all authority.
We are His, yet we have choices to make which authority we decide to be under. The enemy understands authority just as much as we do, sometimes more. His workers are under a different type. When Jesus was teaching and performing miracles it caused the people to wonder what authority He stood for that caused Him to speak and move in such a way. They wanted to know who He was backing; "and spoke to Him, saying, “Tell us, by what authority are You doing these things? Or who is he who gave You this authority?” (Luke 20:2)
Jesus was under the Father's authority. He was sent here to do the work of God and declare truth into our lives.
"And they were astonished at His teaching, for His word was with authority." (Luke 4:32)
When Jesus died and rose again, all authority was given to Him; "And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth."
(Matthew 28:18)
When we choose to believe in Jesus Christ as our Lord, we enlist ourselves under His power and authority and He gives us the right to use it to advance His kingdom. The devil listens to His authority but only if one recognizes they carry it. He loves to test us and play mind games with us making us think we have no ability to declare things over him. That is nothing but a lie from the father of lies himself! When we can truely learn what Jesus walked in on earth and realize He turned around and gave it all to us to use we can conquer all things the devil attempts to throw at us! "Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us." (Romans 8:37)
When one is under a commanding officer they represent that name in authority to an opposing army. Jesus Christ is our very own commanding officer and under His Name we are representatives of Him in every fight we enter; "In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name."
(Matthew 6:9)
His Name is power, His Name is Sovereign and we are to use it in authority to each prayer we pray, each declaration we make. The devil knows when we lack belief, He knows who is truely backing what they speak or if they are wavering in fear. We see an example of when the seven sons of Sceva attempted to use Jesus' Name without truely standing in faith. They thought the Name in itself was enough and it did not require anything else, they were cocky and unknowing of who the Lord really was.
"And the evil spirit answered and said, “Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are you?”
(Acts 19:15)
A response from a demon. They know who we represent. They understand who we fear the most and they will only listen according to our own stance with Jesus. We must ask ourselves, do we really know Jesus personally enough to stand in His authority? If we do then our next question is, what is stopping us from taking back what the devil stole with confidence? Jesus states His faithfulness. He backs His word everytime. If we are not believing in the power in which we speak, if we are begging God rather then partnering with God; we will have the devil laughing at us even more. God is merciful yes, but He is also waiting on us to fight for what Jesus died to give us! We are to speak these things, exhort and rebuke with all authority! Notice the word states "all authority," not just some. We must move in faith even if we can't understand fully how God will move next. When we speak it, believe it and wait on it to manifest; God moves with us. Let us believe in God who split the Red Sea, who struck Goliath with one single blow, who caused manna to come from heaven and made the walls of Jericho to fall down with a shout! This is the God we serve today! This is the power that dwells inside of us that satan is blinding us to see and walk in! Jesus told us to follow Him, to call things that be not as though they are! Lets grasp ahold of our true authority and speak out declaring the defeat which was done on the cross! It is already won my friends, Jesus wants us to claim it and take it; "You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble!" (James 2:19)
Let our spiritual man clench our teeth at the devil and speak blessings and victory over the things satan tries to steal. He knows what the Blood is capable of, he knows what the Name of Jesus Christ is able to fulfill in our lives. It's our moment to know just as much as our own enemy knows and turn it around on him! We must believe, draw nearer to God's heart and take down our giants because we then will know it is not of our own account but of the One who is within us releasing the blessing! What authority are you backing today? Are you letting the devil discourage you into thinking it is not enough? Take it back! It's time to fight my friends! Jesus gave His life so that we can.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I exalt Your Name on high and declare I am a child of God and nothing shall prevail against me! Thank you for Your great authority that I am under. I receive victory for it has already been won. I refuse to let the devil blind me or discourage me into thinking otherwise. I know my God and I know His faithfulness. I stand in His word and I am covered by the Blood of His precious Son. Today is blessed, today is for the Lord's work however He leads me. I am praising, clapping and stomping in strength against the wiles of him who attempts to steal, kill and destroy. No longer will I question my prayers, doubt the release of them and waver in my faith. I stand for the Lord's army and I am an ambassador for Jesus Christ! Body and mind, get in line! May all the glory be given to my Lord who carries all authority in heaven and on earth. It's in His Name I make these declarations, Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
