Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;
~Philippians 4:6~
We all have something on our minds that concern us, that weigh on us or hinder us from being all that we are called to be. The world wants us to be in control of ourselves and to have an answer for every little anxiety we carry. A diagnoses or a label for why we act the way we act. God made us all very unique, He designed us with intent that we would worship Him and rely on Him. Adam and Eve caused a fall in this design plan. Jesus brought it back. "for the law made nothing perfect; on the other hand, there is the bringing in of a better hope, through which we draw near to God." (Hebrews 7:19)
We now have the ability, through Jesus, to pray to God and make supplication for our concerns. The world wants us to rely on earthly things for knowledge and "help". The Father wants us to go to Him for these things. Most of our issues can be cured spiritually. "For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace." (Romans 8:6)
If we rely on things that are carnal, we will get carnal results. If we rely on things which are spiritual, we will receive spiritual help. The Father is always present and watching; waiting for us to reach out to Him for help. As we give thanks and praise our prayers intensify. It makes the devil flee and the prayers become clear, even in our own mind. "But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ."
(I Corinthians 15:57)
Our spirit man/woman begins to understand that because of Jesus Christ we can have eternal peace, that nothing and nobody can stop us. The only thing stopping us from receiving His promises are ourselves. Our own worries and fears. This is why God tells us not to fear, to trust in Him. "You drew near on the day I called on You, And said, “Do not fear!” (Lamentations 3:57)
As we call on the Lord, He instantly draws near. He promises to deliver us of all our cares for He cares for us. There is nothing in this world that can give us this same assurance. Trust me, I tried. I almost lost my life because of it. The only cure of all my worries? The Lord Jesus Christ. There is nothing He cannot do. When we begin to limit God, He begins to draw back and can't help those who disbelieve in His power and authority. "But we are not of those who draw back to perdition, but of those who believe to the saving of the soul." (Hebrews 10:39)
We must believe God is who He says He is and we must come to Him for all things. I have heard many believers claim that praying for small things may "bother the Lord." This is such a silly thing to say. We could never bother God! He wishes more of us just as we should wish more of Him each day.
"I am the bread of life." (John 6:48)
We must be filling ourselves on Jesus. Making our requests made known to God through Him. The only reason i live day by day filled with joy and security is because of Him. I go to Him the moment I wake up and I dont stop till the moment I lay my head back down for the night. "Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, And uphold me by Your generous Spirit." (Psalms 51:12)
We are to be held up by His Spirit alone. Without Jesus, our flesh is so quick to give in. Our minds turn to the worldly things to fill the void we may feel and our spirits shift. The devil is always looking for this vulnerable spot as a way in to mess with us. "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour." (I Peter 5:8)
If we have our guard placed against the enemy, fighting for what Christ gave us and putting Jesus first in all things; satan can't have a way to devour us. If he sees us strapped in our armor and trusting in God, he will move on to someone more vulnerable then us. This requires daily focus on God. We cannot afford to miss a beat with our faith. Unbelief is strong in this world, even amongst those who claim to believe. It is a shame that we can praise God one moment and then doubt Him the next. For Jesus told us with God ALL things are possible. He did not say some things are possible. He said all. "Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life."
(Proverbs 4:23)
Let's take a step back and self examine; what does our hearts say? What does our hearts feel? Are they filled with Christ and His words? His peace? Gratefulness for Him each day? If not, we have room for issues to spring forth that will allow the world to latch on and feed our worries. Jesus does not want any of us to worry. He wants us to come to Him and believe that He can help, with all things. Instead of attempting to come up with a cure on our own or running to men with answers, let us first go to God with thanksgiving and let our requests be made known, no matter how big or small, He takes care of it all. This is the love He has for all of His children, it takes our part to make that step towards Him.
Prayer:
Gracious God, i give thanks for the control You have over my life that I not need to worry about any thing big or small. Even when the devil tries to throw roadblocks in front of me I know You will get me over them just as You walk me through fire. There is nothing that is out of Your control as I submit my all to You. Show me the areas in my life that I may harbor anxiety and help me to cast this away. I praise my God who gives His children rest as we rely solely on You. All things will fall into place as they should and You are holding my hand throughout each moment. I am grateful to be alive, strong, secure in my faith and I long for more of You Jesus. Take off my blinders that cause me to have doubt in Your wondrous works, strip me of any concern that I am relying on the world for and nudge me to always come to You first. Fill me Holy Spirit and draw me closer to the One who sustains me. It is in Your Amazing Name I receive blessings and peace today. Jesus Christ. Amen.
