The Lord's Refreshment

June 29, 2021

The Lord grant mercy to the household of Onesiphorus, for he often refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain;

~II Timothy 1:16~

On a day like today, so hot and muggy, we find ourselves becoming weary. Our bodies tired out and craving to be lifted up, energized and refreshed. Many of us sat outside in the sun with a cool beverage to keep us feeling these ways, grasping on to a little bit of strength and relaxation. Our bodies feel these effects and it is noticeable but what happens when our spirits feel these similar effects that we can't see? We become weary at heart, tired in our walk, thirsty for Jesus' understanding and in need of a restoration spiritually. Like previously stated, these types of symptoms are completely unseen yet they are present, just as much as our physical body feels the strong symptoms of a heat wave. "But now it comes upon you, and you are weary; It touches you, and you are troubled." (Job 4:5)

What do we run to when we are becoming spiritually troubled, drained or confused?

Are we coming to the Father for a fresh drink of truth and asking Him for that divine strengh that only He can bring?

"And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me."

(II Corinthians 12:9)

Are we uniting with fellow believers for support as an act of great refreshment?

"For we have great joy and consolation in your love, because the hearts of the saints have been refreshed by you, brother."

(Philemon 1:7)

Are we receiving the living water in a time where we feel spiritually dehydrated?

"Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled."

(Matthew 5:6)

There are many things to come across in this world that can cause our spirit man to feel drained. This may look like lack of hunger for the word, doubt, confusion or overall fear of moving forward. The Lord is telling us to stop and take His refreshment. It will bring us new ways of seeing things. It will satisfy us bringing our hearts closer to God. It will cure our weariness. There is no other better taste then what He has to give; "Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!" (Psalms 34:8)

If we are finding that we are struggling in the word or in deed for the Lord, we can go to Him with open arms asking for that spiritual refreshment. For with it, we will rise and feel His presence which gives life to our bones.

The iced tea, lemonade or iced coffee we sip on to refresh our bodies is a physical sign of what Christ is offering our inner man each and everyday. It is up to us to drink it, share it with others and grow from it. We have the Lord Jesus, the word of God and eachother. Let us desire the pure refreshment the Lord is offering us in a time of weariness, for the days are short and the truth is what we live for. As the Church, it is our job to have those drinks on hand to offer to those we discern are truely overheating in their spirits. Let us refreah eachother and ourselves in Christ Jesus. For the kind He brings is free and far more powerful then any other we get on earth. "Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might."

(Ephesians 6:10)

Prayer:

Gracious God, thank you for Your concern for my mind, body, soul and spirit. Thank you for desiring me to be refreshed each day. Lord I reach out for help in how I can fill my inner man/woman with your relaxing living water. I know that You are sufficient enough for me. I ask for clariry as we move ahead in Your journey. Let Your will done. I praise Your Name which is above any kind of weariness that may try and strike my body. Thank you for those break throughs and I continue to bless all of my family and ask for a great refreshing to be delivered to all. I pray for rest, strength and divine peace only from heaven in the Name of my Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.
