He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much; and he who is unjust in what is least is unjust also in much.
~Luke 16:10~
Oh how I love the little things in life! I always have. In fact, I tend to get more excited over little blessings then anything. My reasoning for it? It proves just how much God really loves me when He notices the little things I need or want. When He brings a blessing of a sort that even slipped my own mind. A big prayer we remember but a small one we tend to forget how it is something that was on our heart. The Lord never forgets; "For His eyes are on the ways of man, And He sees all his steps." (Job 34:21)
He is faithful in little and in much. The Lord will send little signs our way to remind us just how much He knows the desires of our heart. These reminders are planted ever so carefully to get us to notice Him. To me, the littlest of things can represent something so big. These can be little at first but grow into something big and magnificent. Remember how our King arrived to earth? "And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn." (Luke 2:7)
The israelites cried out to God for a warrior, a redeemer, a king to come in and destroy all their foes in one clean sweep. Their prayer was answered in the form of a newborn baby. It is truely the little things that blessed the most. This little blessing was something far greater then the israelites could of ever imagined. He would grow, He would lead and He would defeat. Not as expected of course. Sometimes its the little things that suprise us more then anything.
Our King, our Savior and our Redeemer will notice all that we need and even all that we dont. He loves to bring smiles to our faces. He longs to see His children feel loved, heard and wanted. "But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”
(I Corinthians 2:9)
If we love Him, we search for the little things of Heaven all around us. We look for Him in day to day life situations. We become faithful in the little things He has us do. If we are to press on in the little things Christ calls us into, we are able to press on in the big things. Jesus puts us to the test and we follow by trusting in the process of "little to big." If we are feeling like we are not doing enough for the Kingdom or that our role is "too small," this is most definitely not truth what so ever. Every part we play whether we think it to be too small, if we are faithful in these areas, He will always grow them into something big and beautiful for His glory. Just as the Lord notices who is faithful in little, He will notice who is unjust in little. For the Lord is grateful for all of His children. Let us be grateful of all He presents to us. If we compare our blessings to others because of size, we may be missing the big picture just as the israelites did when they saw baby Jesus in a manger. God can take the little things and show us His everlasting love, faithfulness and let us know He sees everything we desire; even when we forget.
"This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance. For to this end we both labor and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of those who believe."
(I Timothy 4:9-10)
Are we able to remain faithful in little to the One who remains faithful to us in little? Are we satisfied with small blessings or just waiting around for something big to arrive while ignoring what could be right in front of us already? Jesus can take anything small and turn it into something very big. The little things mean more then we even know.
Prayer:
Gracious God, thank you for blessing me with the little things in life. I see how You notice me every step I take. It is a constant reminder that I am never alone, You never leave me. Help me to focus my eyes on the blessings You bring no matter how small they may seem. Holy Spirit, increase my sensitivity to You. Show me how to be filled with more gratitude so that I may watch the Lord work in my life each day without ignoring Him. I long for Your signs, Your little nudgings that say "I see you and I love you." These are what I live for. Praises to You my Lord for Your great faithfulness. I pray that I can remain faithful in what is little and in what is much. Teach me Jesus, in Your Name I pray and praise. Amen.
