Then Jesus said to him, “Away with you, Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’ Then the devil left Him, and behold, angels came and ministered to Him.
~Matthew 4:10-11~
The negative all started with him. The one who first lied, claiming he was like God. The Father punished his lies by casting him out of heaven all together; "And He said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven."
(Luke 10:18)
As the enemy sulked in his own lies; jealousy and rage grew inside and he began to turn on God's very creation.
Sin was born into the world through his lies directed at God's children; "Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die."
(Genesis 3:4)
Oh devil, how desparation has over taken you in such a way that you are still making the same unwise decisions today, thousands of years later. To go forth and attempt to again lie to God Himself through Jesus in the wilderness is rather foolish, dont you think? Temptations to eat, test life and worship him all failed of course and satan had no choice but to go away for a time being. There is only so much the enemy can throw at us. Jesus overcame these things and had them written down in the living word so that we may live accordingly when satan attempts to throw these temptations our way. We can counter him with the truth as Jesus did and in turn will be strengthened in spirit just as Jesus was; "Then Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit to Galilee, and news of Him went out through all the surrounding region." (Luke 4:14)
The powers that overcome us as we shun evil will bring us closer to heaven on earth! We crush the enemies lies with what is true. We overcome him by our testimony and by the Blood of Jesus; "And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death." (Revelation 12:11)
As the king of liars, the devil is notorious for bringing as many people of God's as he can to death. Jesus brings the opposite, to eternal life; "And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son." (I John 5:11)
Just as Jesus spoke to satan to get him to go away, we are instructed to stand in faith and claim what is ours already. It cannot be taken away from us unless we allow it to be. Do we want to allow the devil to steal from us? Jesus gives us all the tools we need, the example in His word and the Spirit of God within us to grow stronger in faith each day. Within us we have the ability to kick satan and his pathetic lies. We are so blessed to have the ability to partner with God to destroy the works of evil around us and bring the light of Christ in; breaking chains off those around us who may have slipped into his lies. Jesus is so faithful to all.
"to the weak I became as weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all men, that I might by all means save some."
(I Corinthians 9:22)
Just as the devil attempts to shift himself to cater to the person he is trying to steal, we can gently shift ourselves in love to grab ahold for Jesus of the one He is looking to save. All is done in love. All the enemy does is in hatred, he has no capability to love anyone. After Jesus defeated the works of the devil in the wilderness, it says the angels came and ministered to Him. The Father sends forth His angels to us when we may need that extra boost of strength and protection. He makes sure that we always have exactly what we need. If the Lord of Lords had to overcome the temptations and the lies of satan, we too will be subject to seasons of hearing his lies. For he is the first liar and will be the last liar! The time will come when he will go away to be tormented for good and that in itself we can remind him of when he may come along to bug or test us; "The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever."
(Revelation 20:10)
The great deceiver, the last liar will be cast into the lake of fire and brimstone! Hallelujah for justice is served once and for all! So he can go on to lie all he wants now but we have the last say. Speak the truth towards each situation he throws at you and he too will go away quickly just as he did with Jesus. He has no other choice but to listen to us as believers and followers of the Son of God who put all to death on the cross with Him. We can smile and sing praises as we see the devil try to make us stumble, we do not have to fall! Jesus is here to catch us with truth and the angels are here to minister to us as we need! How beautiful our God is that He made a way for us to receive power in the Spirit to go forth, continue all that was done and throw everything our enemy says to us right at the feet of Jesus making him flee!
Whenever he comes back we just do it again and each time he will leave even quicker then before. Our faith will build and his lies will be even more obvious to us. We will begin to laugh at his desparation to defeat us, speaking "it is written satan, you shall worship the Lord your God and Him only you shall serve!"
Prayer:
Lord God, King of the Universe, thanks be to You for the great truth that defeats all the lies of the enemy! I am grateful to be filled with power from heaven that keeps me strong enough to speak to the first liar and make him flee. Lord show me any area in my life where I am believing his lies and help me to get rid of these things once and for all. I choose to serve You and only You shall I serve. Fill me Holy Spirit with divine understanding of the word and courage to push through overcoming all attempts to make me fall. There aint no grave that's can hold my body down! Glorify Your Name through me today Jesus, bringing more to know the truth in defeating our enemy! Praises be to You Jesus, I receive all blessings today in Your Name as I rise up in faith and truth. Amen.
