Servants Of Freedom

June 26, 2021

as free, yet not using liberty as a cloak for vice, but as bondservants of God.

~I Peter 2:16~

Freedom comes at a price. We should know, as we come from a nation built on liberty from many who gave their lives to allow us to live this way. Freedom is a blessing, it is a gift and it is an honor. We are born into spiritual bondage until we come to Christ, we are a slave to the dark system until we are set free by the Son of God; "And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” (John 8:32)

There is much to say for our freedom in Christ. He carries our burdens, redeems us of sin, took the entire curse upon His Body and allows us a "free pass" into the Kingdom of Heaven. We have no way to earn it ourselves, it is ours just by believing and following Him to the end. We are brought to earth to serve and worship God. Some of us choose not to while others are lining themselves up to the will He has spoken into being from the very beginning. We have freedom yet we also have free will. Jesus is telling us not to use our freedom as a means to act sinfully, rather as a way to submit completely to Him. Its very clear what we are to do and not do. The devil loves to blind us to that. Jesus gives us the brightness of His freedom; "To open blind eyes, To bring out prisoners from the prison, Those who sit in darkness from the prison house."

(Isaiah 42:7)

No longer do we need to succumb to the evils of this world. We have liberty with God! Hallelujah! As a soldier fights for his nation's liberty, Jesus fought for the liberty of this world. Whenever we get too comfortable in our liberty, we tend to act entitled. When really we did nothing to deserve the things we have, they are blessings. Not one of us deserve what Jesus did for us, yet He did it and all He asks is that we use it as a means to become His servants, to continue the chain of blessing on to more of His children. If we choose to sit idly by and wait for eternity living in sin, we are taking the roll many of us in america tend to take, which is the "me me me" attitude of life. "I need, I want, I deserve." Let us instead have a thankful attitude to the liberty in which Jesus gave us and direct it in honor of Him each day. We, in the sense, become a servant of freedom. We stop becoming the spoiled child and become gracious towards those around us, truely appreciating and understanding what Christ did for us.

"because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened." (Romans 1:21)

The very act of being human makes us fight against our own fleshly ways. Being thankful is a choice we make. Being a servant is a choice we make. That free will is ours even after we come to the faith, it doesnt stop at "I believe." It is a process, a walk and a journey we are to constantly push into to glorify Him.

Let us praise God together for liberty in Him and use it to ask Him, "What can I do for you now?" I can assure you that as you do, that calling He spoke into your life will become very apparent. There is respect one has towards those who fight for their freedom, those who lay down their lives for many. How about we choose to live our lives respecting our Soldier each and everyday.

He gave the ultimate sacrifice of all so we may partner with Him to stand in Heaven's freedom; "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service."

(Romans 12:1)

The freedom which Christ died to bring rose up from the grave alongside Him. It's up to us how we walk in it now.

Prayer:

Lord in Heaven and all around us, I thank you that I am free because the Son has made me free. Lord, help me to use my liberty for Your glory. To serve and honor You. I love my walk with You and I strive to continue to present myself acceptable to You each day. If there is any way within me that is causing a blockage or hinderance to that I pray You will release me of this. Let Your Blood cover me today and declare to the enemy the battle is already won. Glory and praise be to You for the gift You have given. I pray mighty protection over my brethren and my church, that You rise us up as a whole to walk in the liberty of Jesus Christ, our King of Kings who I pray and receive the fullness of God in. Amen.
