to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons. And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, “Abba, Father!” Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.
~Galatians 4:5-7~
Life begins, we follow our earthly parents and we strive to be accepted and loved by them with each step we take. For some of us, there may be tragic situations that put a wall up and for others they may lose their parents at an early age. A child craves their parents affection; to be a part of a family is our own natural instinct as we are made in His image. "So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them." (Genesis 1:27)
We know that our God has always desired to have a deep connection to each of us since the beginning of time. Like some of us who were separated from our earthly parents, God is grieved by the separation by some of His own. When we go on to look for acceptance in an area we just may not get from people, God is saying "here I am!" His plan was brought to light by His Son, who would come to redeem those who were under the law and to receive all of us who were far off as Gentiles. Jesus made a way to give us eternal family, One that would always accept, love, shelter and care for us no matter how old we are; "Even to your old age, I am He, And even to gray hairs I will carry you! I have made, and I will bear; Even I will carry, and will deliver you." (Isaiah 46:4)
Where there is an empty hole in our heart, Jesus is wanting to fill it. Where there is confusion and pain, Jesus is willing to deliver us from it. If we crave the acceptance of our Abba Father, we must first accept His Son into our life. That is what bridges the gap between us and God. "For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus." (I Timothy 2:5)
As Jesus wept in the Garden, He showed great sorrow and submission to His Father. He humbled Himself to death for us so that we may be able to one day cry out, "Abba Father!"
"And He said, “Abba, Father, all things are possible for You. Take this cup away from Me; nevertheless, not what I will, but what You will. ” (Mark 14:36)
With His pain being displayed for all sinners as redemption, we as believers have our Fatherly connection all thanks to Jesus' willingness to fulfill all Scripture. A father and son connection is quite special, imagine how sorrowful God felt watching His own suffering for the evil of this world. There is no love like this. "Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends." (John 15:13)
Jesus in a sense says "here is My Father, receive Him." Quite a beautiful gift to share. We have an official spot in the Royal Family as sons and daughters. Could it get any better then this my friends?
We were born into this world as slaves and at the very moment we take Jesus into our hearts, we are freed! No longer in bondage.
No longer a tool for the devil to use.
So even if we have earthly acceptance from our own, this is beautiful yes but we have One that nothing is capable of destroying.
"Nevertheless I am continually with You; You hold me by my right hand."
(Psalms 73:23)
We are His and He is ours. Joint heirs, meaning 50/50 we have what He has. Let us receive all of what He has for us! By faith we reach out and take our inheritance that God desires to give us all. He's looking for eager children just as we would be eager to receive what it ours here we can be quick to have Kingdom gifts. "Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning."
(James 1:17)
That same Spirit that dwelt in Jesus Christ, dwells in us and it cries out "Abba Father!"
With it God perks up and is ready to answer us. Let us look to Him as sons and daughters, receive His Family into our life and rejoice for the great gift of freedom with Christ's sacrifice. With Him, we always have Family and Friends! Praise God!
Prayer:
Abba Father, how grateful I am to be Your son/daughter! Thank you for making a way through Your Son to give me freedom and adopt me into Your Family. I choose to stand secure in my Father's arms and cling to the hope that is in me. Lead me on the path You need me on Lord, not my will but Yours be done. I surrender every area of myself to You and pray for a blessing upon my earthly family as well. I receive all that You offer to me and know that Jesus gave His life to do so for me. Praise You Lord for the faithfulness and destiny You have for me as we lock hands. Let this journey be an honor to Your Name and may others be led to You through seeing my relationship as my Spirit cries out Abba Father! Oh I need Your grace each day. I am nothing on my own and I thank you for the strength that You have placed within me. It is in the Name of my King and my Savior from bondage I pray, Jesus Christ. Amen.
