And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” Then He who sat on the throne said, “Behold, I make all things new.” And He said to me, “Write, for these words are true and faithful.”
~Revelation 21:4-5~
As I was sitting in prayer last night asking the Lord for peace and understanding on this broken nation, He spoke this verse to me. I have read this verse many times before as it is a beautiful promise to His children, however, this time it felt more pronounced to me in this moment. I read it about three times in a row and just really took in His words. The Lord tells us we will no longer cry, all of our tears will be wiped away. I believe this means old tears and present tears. I believe He will take away all memory of us in deep sadness and no longer will we recall it. This is a beautiful thing to look forward to, that one day everything we endured in this world, all of the many tears shed will be thrown out completely and we will forever feel joy. I believe this is why God knows just how many tears we have shed in our lifetime, just as He knows exactly how many hairs are on our heads; "You number my wanderings; Put my tears into Your bottle; Are they not in Your book? (Psalms 56:8)
The Lord is waiting just as we are waiting. He wants to remove all of our sorrow and all of our death. He will put this to an end. The full curse on this world will be broken! Isaiah heard this very prophecy and it is written before the time of Jesus; "He will swallow up death forever, And the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces; The rebuke of His people He will take away from all the earth; For the Lord has spoken." (Isaiah 25:8)
The old things of this world will eventually pass away, this will be the only true death that will occur. The world as we know it will no longer be known. It will not even be a distant thought. God Himself speaks and says He will make all things new. He tells John to "write for these words He speaks are true and faithful." We can all smile now as we know what God speaks, is done. It will come to pass! "So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it. (Isaiah 55:11)
There will never be a question of if one day we will all reign with Christ face to face in a beautiful new world, but when? This we do not know, for nobody knows the true time. The comfort we have in this promise is that it will happen no matter what. We do not have to know exactly when for just as the israelites did not know exactly when the prophecy of our Messiah would come to pass, but what we do see is that it most definitely did! There will not be one holy word spoken that will not be fulfilled. This is how much we are loved by Him! "From this man’s seed, according to the promise, God raised up for Israel a Savior—Jesus." (Acts 13:23)
We have a Father who takes total control for us. One who never changes. This is why we are told to walk by faith, so as to hold on to the hope of a time to come when no longer we shall suffer by any means. "For we walk by faith, not by sight." (II Corinthians 5:7)
When we walk in faith we are believeing in what we cannot see yet. We are trusting in God's spoken word and we are waiting patiently on Him. "But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint." (Isaiah 40:31)
Those who lean on the Lord and wait for His timing will see all types of blessings come to pass. Patience is so important. Faith is a major key in walking with Jesus and knowing that one day you will walk beside Him in this earth again, just as Adam and Eve once did before they decided to disobey God. Paradise was created in the garden for them to dwell with God and have everything they could ever need. One act of mistrust in God cause this whole world to become cursed. Not only did God fix this by sending His Son to shed His blood for us, to become covered and redeemed of this curse as we testify it over ourselves; but when the new earth is made the curse will be destroyed all together and will be even better then it was in the garden. God always makes a way for us!
"And there shall be no more curse, but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His servants shall serve Him."
(Revelation 22:3)
When it comes to earth it has gotten many chances, God never gave up on it. What a gift! He is faithful to us and very merciful. We must remember this as we think about what will come. We must keep our hope in Jesus, knowing that He will be back and everything we see around us is merely temporary. When we decide to believe in God's words, all of them not just some, we will have an amazing ending. "By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible."
(Hebrews 11:3)
Faith is very powerful. God is all truth. Everything you read about in this verse today will most definitely come to pass. The Lord tells us not to ignore His spoken words but to hold on to them tight, to live according to what they say. "Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written in it; for the time is near." (Revelation 1:3)
When we do we shall become blessed as we watch in awe the world being reshaped and the old tears being wiped away. We will experience a joy even greater then when the israelites watched Jesus being brought into this world. This time He will be completely glorified and a true King to reign over everything! Hallelujah to God's promise! Say goodbye to all of those tears!
Prayer:
Father God, thank you for being so faithful and true, for making a way for Your children to know You and for us to one day truely be with You face to face. I know that all of the tears I have ever shed or will shed, will one day be completely wiped away by Your gracious hand. Help me to always focus on Your spoken promise as I know it is the only true word in this world. Thank you for showing me this verse in a deeper way and allowing me to truely feel it in my spirit. I want to become closer to You each and every day and put all of my faith in You. I give praise to You for always fulfilling what You say, for sending Your Son to redeem me and allow me to live life abundantly and for one day bringing Him back to truely reign in Glory together. I stand waiting patiently for whenever this may be, trusting in the life You have given me now to help as many people see You and Your amazing love You have for all of us. Show me how I can fulfill the will You have for me today with joy. In Your promising Name I pray, Jesus Christ. Amen.
