Is Your Fallow Ground Broken Up?

June 7, 2021

Sow for yourselves righteousness; Reap in mercy; Break up your fallow ground, For it is time to seek the Lord, Till He comes and rains righteousness on you.

~Hosea 10:12~

So many of us are waiting on God to move in on our prayers that we have been praying on without ceasing. We have been determined to wait on the Lord and trust that soon we will reap the blessings of a faithful servant. The main way to reap ones harvest is to have sown to it; "But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully."

(II Corinthians 9:6)

In order to sow to something it must be on proper ground or it will not bring forth what we had hoped it would. There is work to be done on our part.

Are we in preparation with the right ground work to receive what we are desiring to receive from Jesus? If we are sowing to righteousness then mercy is ours, if we are sowing iniquity then sorrow follows. Our ground will not sprout up if it is not prepared correctly. Are we breaking up our dorment ground with consistent meditation in God's word, ministry/fellowship with others and deep intimacy with Jesus Christ or are we getting caught up in the world, acting on our own fleshly desires and not sacrificing ourselves to God in the time we know we can definitely make for Him.

“He who would love life And see good days, Let him refrain his tongue from evil, And his lips from speaking deceit. Let him turn away from evil and do good; Let him seek peace and pursue it. For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, And His ears are open to their prayers; But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.”

(I Peter 3:10‭-‬12)

There is the right amount of soil, clearing techniques and time involved in preparing our land for God's intended blessing. Are we truely preparing ourself for Christ's latter rain to bring forth abundance or is our land still bare and not even close to being ready? It will certainly catch us off guard when others begin seeing and feeling God's glory fall upon them. We will still just be standing on fallow ground while others are standing on holy ground.

This is a time where the Lord is telling us to start breaking up our fallow ground and getting it ready, being able in faith to grab ahold of what we have been truely praying for. We cannot expect to leave ourselves unprepared and God to move in on that. He is so gentle that He wants all of us to be ready for specific harvest. This is why His timing is so important. If we get a blessing that we are just not ready for, we will not be ready to contain it and we will also not be as appreciative of it; "But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law."

(Galatians 4:4 )

Even regarding His own Son, God waited for a time when the world was ready for Him to come. The fallow ground had been broken up with tears, sweat, sacrifices made and faith that the Messiah would definitely come; for God's promises are always true.

Is there something we are struggling with in preparation for His glory? Are we lacking trust in His timing? Are we believing in only the negative remarks of our minds? Do we need a faith increase? Are we making excuses for why we just dont read the bible everyday or abide in Him as we should? God gives us all time in each day to draw near to Him. Wherever we may be we have the proper amount of resources to get to know Him and prepare our land in righteousness to receive the blessing. If we choose the other route, we may just remain in want without coming to terms as to why it just isn't happening. Relationship with Jesus is an absolute two way street, we must find ourselves being hungry for Him just as much as He is hungry for us; "And I prayed to the Lord my God, and made confession, and said, “O Lord, great and awesome God, who keeps His covenant and mercy with those who love Him, and with those who keep His commandments." (Daniel 9:4)

He is so good to us and He is asking us to get ourselves ready, to believe that He wants us to bring in a plentiful harvest. If our land isn't ready then it can not come. Let us join hands with the Lord asking Him to show us who He really is and what He needs us to do to break up our fallow ground for it is the season to really wake up and sow in righteousness for Jesus. As others watch us prepping ours, they may just begin to prepare theirs too.

Prayer:

Father God, thank you for always preparing Your children with Your words of inspiration that tell us You have blessings that will come as we are abiding in You each day. I am so grateful for all of the glory which fills my family and my home, for all of the provision You bring my way and I know that as I prepare myself each day that many more will follow. You are the kindest, most loving and faithful Lord. There is truely nothing You wouldn't do for us as we trust in You and follow Your commandments. I choose to obey and be persistent. I choose to break up any fallow ground that may be left and sow in righteousness so that I may reap in mercy as I wait on You. Lead me in the way of everlasting and strengthen my motivation to always be the child You are desiring me to be. Let Your Name be glorified on High as I prepare myself for You, in Jesus' Sovereign Name I pray. Amen.
