House Of Prayer

July 12, 2021

And He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you have made it a ‘den of thieves.’ ”

~Matthew 21:13~

I dont know about any of you but I get so excited when I read this story about Jesus cleansing the temple. Not only because of the house cleansings the Lord has taken me through on this journey but rather the power and authority of taking back what is so rightfully God's. He is defending His Father's house and He is making it known that mixing the worldly things with heavenly things is not pleasing to Him. He was honest. He was blunt. He was true. "He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much; and he who is unjust in what is least is unjust also in much." (Luke 16:10)

When we are willing to disobey in any area of life, we are dangerously close to becoming as the ones in this temple; self sufficient, ruling in the flesh, blaspheming or luke warm. The Lord was visibly upset and He had every right to be. Each task these people had been doing were enough to benefit only themselves and God called His people to pray for His people and worship Him.

"Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may run swiftly and be glorified, just as it is with you." (II Thessalonians 3:1)

We are told to make it a House of Prayer. Whether that be laying hands on sick to pray for healing, praying through deliverance, praying in unity as a whole for a family or teaching the children how to pray; we must surrender ourselves as working vessels as we come together in God's House. Are we bringing in offensive items to the Church? "The righteous God wisely considers the house of the wicked, Overthrowing the wicked for their wickedness." (Proverbs 21:12)

Are we lacking the stamina to pray boldly or fervently? "Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart."

(I Peter 1:22)

Are we worrying about ourselves more then others? "When you eat and when you drink, do you not eat and drink for yourselves?"

(Zechariah 7:6)

All too often we find that some folks dislike the Old Testament because "God was angry." The truth is God still gets angry, He never changes. This moment proves to us the Just side of God Himself; "God is a just judge, And God is angry with the wicked every day." (Psalms 7:11)

Jesus came through with power and authority. He showed the side of God that does not just "approve of anything." He showed just how important His Church is to Him, that means all of us. He desires we are to surrender ourselves accordingly and truely come to Him in prayer with thanksgiving for Him and for eachother. We are called with a purpose and that is to serve. Jesus defended Scripture, just as we should. Jesus defended His people, just as we should. Jesus obeyed the Father, just as we should. Let us come together into a true House of Prayer, fulfilling the desires of our Lord as we give His people grace, mercy and love. Bringing Scriptures to the surface and cleansing each place we worship of all things undesirable.

Prayer:

Sovereign Father, thank you for being True, Honorable and Just. I desire that my Church, my home and my life is cleansed of all abominable things so that I may live accordingly to the Father's word. Let my yes be a yes and my no be a no. I strive for obedience above sacrifice and I declare every part of my family to be Yours. Holy Spirit breathe life into me today and give me strength to stand up for what is right as the Lord Jesus did boldly in the temple. I am blessed. I am redeemed. I am a servant to the King of Kings Jesus Christ and I praise His most Holy Name always. Amen.
