The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.”
~Exodus 14:14~
Many times before and after following the Lord Jesus, I have witnessed people attempting to take full control over their life situations; taking a firm grip on their issues and then try to figure out a way to make it go away or fight against it alone. I, myself have done this very thing of course and failed each time. We are all human and as humans we like to be "in control." We like to say we "got this." The problem is not that we can't fight our circumstances, the problem is we cannot fight them alone. Jesus is the only way through our situations. Notice I used the word through; "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me."
(Psalms 23:4)
Jesus doesn't promise us that we will have no tribulation, in fact the very opposite. We will have tribulation in this world. However, we have Jesus beside us, walking through the fire; " If that is the case, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king."(Daniel 3:17)
We will always be delivered from the fire of our circumstance, or even literal fire as you can see here. We must believe He will and step into each day with faith firmly rooted.
Just as God could have taken the israelites around the Red Sea, He decided to lead them through the Red Sea. Why did He do this? To glorify His Name, to show them that He was fighting for them. All they had to do was hold their peace. The moment we let our emotions dictate what we do, we may end up doing something God doesn't want us to or we may end up struggling longer then God ever intended us to. All because of the decisions we make in holding our peace with God. When we lack trust in His ability to fight for us, we again begin to attempt full control and we wander off His divine path for our life. Trusting in God is everything. "Yes, we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves but in God who raises the dead," (II Corinthians 1:9)
We must keep our eyes focused on who God is. When we know God, we know His power is too great for anything that may be put in front of us. When we lean on Him during a battle of any kind, He is faithful to get us through but we must believe in Him and trust in Him to fight for us. We have to let go of control. Jesus knew how bad we needed Him. So much so that He gave Himself as a sacrifice for us to receive freedom and to have a Guide in our lives right up until we see Him face to face. "As the Father knows Me, even so I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep." (John 10:15)
He tells us how much we truely need Him each and everyday. If we do not abide in Him, we will become withered and we will lack fruit in our lives. We will stumble and fall. We will become confused. We will try to figure things out on our own. The Lord's promises declare His willingness to fight for us but He also wants us to fight with Him as He instructs. On His command we are to do our part. We are to claim truth over our circumstances. "And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God." (Ephesians 6:17)
The armor is ours to put on yet our Commander in Chief is the Lord God Almighty who directs us into each area. There is no battle that He is not willing to help us defeat. He already knows the ending and we must trust that no matter what we feel or see that the victory is His! If there is something today that you are battling, whether it be family problems, health problems, mental torment or financial defeat; know that God will fight for you and no matter how hopeless you may feel now, God is asking you to hold your peace with Him. Trust that He can and will bring you out of this. Listen for His voice quietly and see what He is pressing on your heart to do next. He may just be waiting on you to follow the next step to victory. His will is for His children to live with abundance; "The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly." (John 10:10)
Everything the devil stole from you, God is saying He wants to give it back and then some. We must trust in Him that He is who He says He is and He will do what He says He will do. "For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith."
(I John 5:4)
There is nothing in this world that is too great for God to handle for us. He made this world and He knows all the ins and outs. It is His story, not ours. Let Him continue it until the Book is finally shut. Let us hold our peace my friends and believe in the same God that fought Goliath for David with one single stone. He is still that same God and He is our Father!
Prayer:
Sovereign Adonai, hallowed by thy Great Name. Thank you for the peace that surpasses all understanding. I do not wish to take control of my own life, for I am Yours. I surrender all to You in what so ever You need me to walk through. I know You will bring me through the fire and it will not burn me. The waters shall not overflow me. You are with me as a Mighty Awesome One and all my circumstances I face today are only temporary. I vow to focus on that which is eternal and glorious. Thank you Lord for fighting my battles, may the Glory be given to You alone. Praises to God for instructing me how to fight as I put on my armor each day and join Your army. I hold my peace Father and know You have me. Cleanse my spirit and purify my mind so that I may trust only in You for my situations. I receive blessings today. I rebuke the devil and his attacks on my life in the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ my Lord. Amen.
