“You shall also make a covering of ram skins dyed red for the tent, and a covering of badger skins above that.
~Exodus 26:14~
I truely love how the Lord gives me each devotional in a different way. Sometimes He shows me in the word itself, highlighting it until it seems that is the only verse I can read for the time being. Sometimes He speaks audibly the topic He wants it to be on for the day. Sometimes He allows me to write from a personal point of view where I am experiencing something throughout the day and He has me express it based off that. Sometimes, like today, He shows me in a vision. As I came to the Lord concerning the word for you today, I bowed my head in prayer and I began to have this vision: a man was holding an umbrella over his head, it seems to be raining and a storm was picking up. Suddenly the winds came on strong and his umbrella began to shift around. This man was doing all he could to hold on to this umbrella and then the umbrella flipped inside out and shot straight up, no longer covering this man. Now I am sure we have all seen this happen before, whether on tv or in real life. The best part about this vision that made me smile; the man never let go of the handle. He fought with all his might to hold it firmly even though it was being blown around and the rain was getting on him, this man did not let go of that umbrella. I then heard the Lord say to me; "I want you to write to My children and tell them to hold on to their covering, do not let it go for anything."
I smiled again. I was ready to share this with my brothers and my sisters. He then pointed me to this verse from Exodus, when they were constructing the tabernacle for the Lord's Presence to reside with them. The details were very intricate, right down to every measurement of each clasp, curtain and loop. The Father took His time making sure they followed His instruction. There are several chapters just in construction alone for each place and item involved. God is holy and requires a holy place to reside in; "Exalt the Lord our God, And worship at His holy hill; For the Lord our God is holy."
(Psalms 99:9)
Now covering this tabernacle were these ram skins dyed red. Above the ram skins were badger skins. The skins of the ram dyed red is very prophetic for the coming Messiah, our Lord Jesus Christ. His Holy Blood acts a sign and a protection for all who believe in what He came to do. The covering of Jesus' Blood marks us to Father and acts as an inner protection. The badger skins on the outside remind me of the man with his umbrella. The Hebrew term for badger skins is "tahash" meaning "skin/hide." Badger skins are well adapted for protection against the weather. The man in my vision today had that visible outer protection against the rain. The storms above him began to blow away his outer protection but the inner protection that was under that umbrella gave him the strength to hold on tightly and not give up on that covering above. Even though he didnt need the umbrella, for he had the Lord's protection, this man chose not to give up on what was around him. The Lord is that mighty covering for all of us. His Blood covers our inner being each and everyday and whatever storms may rage against us, we must not lose hope. " This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters the Presence behind the veil."
(Hebrews 6:19)
Because of Jesus' sacrifice, we walk with our holy covering. We are seen by the Father as His as we claim Jesus as Lord. No matter what outside elements come against us, we shall always prevail for the Lord gives us that strength to grasp on tight and fight through the strong gusts of life. We may be physically ill and the Lord is calling for us to hold on, for He has a plan for us in it. We may be struggling financially and the Lord is saying hold on for I am coming with a blessing! We may be feeling lost, alone or confused; the Lord says hold on and do not give up, for I AM with you. What so ever the enemy uses against us, will fail in the end. God has given us an inner covering of Christ's righteousness and an outer covering of His love and faithfulness.
"For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him."
(II Corinthians 5:21)
Hold on my friends! For I can assure you that as you fight, the Lord Jesus is bringing you further into His glory. We have already stepped behind the veil, guess what comes next! "But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation."
(I Thessalonians 5:8)
We live on by His Spirit and we grow stronger as we hold that covering tighter and tighter. The devil has no authority and the Lord's plans are always perfect! Praise God that we can smile even in the midst of a storm as our umbrellas begin to bend, shift and break at times. Jesus is always there underneath it all! "Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." (Romans 15:13)
Prayer:
Gracious God, I am so grateful for Your Son Jesus, who came in the flesh only to give Himself up as atonement for my sin. I now can receive the covering of His righteousness and declare that I am a born again child of the King of Kings and nothing can take that away from me! I am praising and exalting Your Name as I press on into this world. Each storm, each trial and each test may mess with my outer covering but I will never let go of what is mine in Christ Jesus. I receive Your mighty strength each day as I keep on this journey with You. I pray for that protection over those who are really having a hard time grasping on, that You may increase their energy and faith to fight against the winds. Lord You are forever faithful to me, show me how to be forever faithful to You. In the Name of my Lord of Lords, Jesus Christ. Amen.
Amen sister. He is with us through every storm!
Amen. All I do is hold on. I hold on as tight as I can especially during a storm
Amen. That is what I do. Keep holding on.
