His Witness

March 18, 2021

Jesus answered them, “I told you, and you do not believe. The works that I do in My Father’s name, they bear witness of Me."

~John 10:25~

When Jesus' disciples continuously questioned Him of who He was or what He was able to do, the Lord kept it short and simple each time. Reminding them consistently that He was of His Father and that whoever believes in Him believes in God who sent Him; "And he who sees Me sees Him who sent Me." (John 12:45)

Jesus is so patient with our questions, isnt He? Here we are as humans insisting on knowing all of the answers and before us stands the very Creator of the universe who simply tells us to believe in God. Believe in the works that come from God. If one were to doubt in one who sends him/her, one would be doubting in God without realizing it. Now dont get me wrong it is wise to test the spirits, we are supposed to. However, sometimes our own pride mixed with the deception of the devil can blind us to something that is truely of God and we will wind up turning our backs on Him. The people did this to Jesus the Messiah, surely they will do this to us. Jesus says that the works that He does in the Father's name bear witness of Him. This is exactly what it means to follow Jesus Christ today; the works that we do in Jesus name bear witness of Him even still. He is calling us to bear witness of Him; to represent Him just as He represented Himself in the Father. "At that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you." (John 14:20)

As we step out into the world to preach, teach or pray for people we are bearing witness of Jesus Christ, for all the glory is for Him to be shown generation after generation. This gift from God is everlasting and although people may pass away, His legacy lives on and on. It shall never die. "But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting On those who fear Him, And His righteousness to children’s children." (Psalms 103:17)

The only question Jesus may have for us, even though He already knows the answers of all things, would be; "are you willing to follow after Me?" If our answer is yes, we must do the works of Christ and bear witness of Him; this is how others see and want to know Him personally for themselves. How will one know of Jesus without a witness standing before them showing them His glory that was given to them? This is how more disciples are made, which is part of witnessing; "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit." (Matthew 28:19)

Jesus came as a true witness and gained many disciples of His own, after His death and ressurection He instructs us to be His Body to proceed this very work into the world. To bring more people to His feet as He longs for all of His children to know Him.

"The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance." (II Peter 3:9)

What a beautiful thing it is that we can be used to be blessings for others who are lost, broken or confused about their own purpose in this world. Everyone carries a purpose. God creates for a reason, His plans are perfect. Sometimes we may turn away, fall away or walk away all together; Jesus is still waiting patiently for the moment someone or something can be used to reach that person to come back to Him, just like the prodigal son. "And he arose and came to his father. But when he was still a great way off, his father saw him and had compassion, and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him."

(Luke 15:20)

No matter how long we have strayed away from God or have chosen to make wrong decisions; He is always waiting patiently in hopes that we will turn back so He can embrace us this same way. Our job is to bear witness of the love that embraced us and saved us when we were wretches. We should strive to show the glory of God wherever we go. To speak of His love and His truth, to be kind to one another, to give glory to Him for we cannot be this way on our own and to show the works of Him through laying on of hands and the signs that He uses our bodies for. It all comes from Him. Even this very devotional; all Him. I am not a writer by any means. I am merely His vessel bearing witness to what He tells me to do and say, in hopes to edify His children and have them hear His voice clearly in their hearts. This is why we follow Him. Our reward comes in heaven. Yes we can live blessed here on earth, for I most certainly am blessed each day I follow the Lord, however there will be many moments of trials, tests and uncertainty. "These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)

The peace that comes from Jesus will always make living in this fallen world seem like it is already a part of heaven, even if utter chaos breaks out around us. He is able to make our hearts jump for joy in the midst of dark times. "My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials."

(James 1:2)

Our faith allows us to calls things that be not as though they were. "By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible." (Hebrews 11:3)

The faith in which we carry will proceed to do the works of Christ and we shall be His witnesses just as He warned His disciples. His sheep hear His voice. We should be considering each day what He needs of us to do first and foremost, for the times we are in are very short. Our life is but a vapor. "and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith." (Philippians 3:9)

Let us continue the works of Jesus my friends, and bear witness of Him through our works. For we can talk the talk all day but if we are not living and doing these truely hands on then our faith will remain dead inside of us. "Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead." (James 2:17)

Witness, testify and show the signs of Christ to those who are in need of salvation and healing. "But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me. And you also will bear witness, because you have been with Me from the beginning." (John 15:26‭-‬27)

Prayer:

Father God, thank you for sending Your Son as a witness to Your glory so that we may see and understand the works of heaven. I vow to bear witness of Jesus in all that I say and do. Let me continue the works Jesus has through me so that more lost souls may be found and restored. I am grateful for the opportuniy to have a faith that will not just hear but do. Lord keep my spirit strong and my flesh cast aside. For I know I am weak in myself. Bring the increase of You and the decrease of me. I pray more of Your servants will proceed to bear witness of You by the works they will do. May Your signs and wonders spread throughout the earth and lift up a remnant of sheep that may have wandered off or fallen asleep. I give thanks and praise to the One who is so patient, merciful and just. I declare that Your legacy lives on inside of me and more shall be a witness to it. I receive blessings and peace today as I rest in Your presence. In the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ, my King. Amen.
