Hearing And Seeing The Way

May 5, 2021

Therefore I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not see, and hearing they do not hear, nor do they understand.

~Matthew 13:13~

We tend to struggle with the concept of a Great Almighty God wanting to speak to us. We doubt in our ability even as we believe in the gospel, that we can hear the Lord speak and see the Lord move. Our eyes become blinded by our own inability to say yes to partnering with a worthy Savior. Our ears become deafened by our own thoughts and the words of the enemy who lie to us each day, overshadowing the voice of God who has much to tell us. Every time I choose to pray, I always pray that nothing hinders my ability to hear Jesus speak to me. I shun my own flesh, emotion and the whispers of the devil distracting me from the Father's guidance. He speaks in many different ways. At times I witness others who just think that hearing the Lord speak to them is a gift that is just not theirs. Nothing can be further from the truth. If Adam had the abiity to walk with God, commune with God and name all the creatures that God had made, even as God knew that Adam would fall; what makes us believe we do not have the ability to hear and commune with God? "Out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the air, and brought them to Adam to see what he would call them. And whatever Adam called each living creature, that was its name." (Genesis 2:19)

If Abraham, who had a history of lying had great friendship with God that grew in a way he could have direct conversations with Him, hearing and seeing the glory set before him; why woudn't God want that for us?

"Now Abraham was old, well advanced in age; and the Lord had blessed Abraham in all things." (Genesis 24:1)

If David who sinned in adultery and allowed emotions to overtake him at times, communed with God so closely that they spoke to eachother often; what makes us believe we cannot be men and women after God's own heart? "The humble shall see this and be glad; And you who seek God, your hearts shall live." (Psalms 69:32)

If Peter who saw the Lord with his own eyes, decided to deny Him and turn back to repent later on, was capable of hearing and partnering with the Lord Jesus in bringing revival to those around him; why can't we?

"Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit."

(Acts 2:38)

We have the very same capability to hear God and see God as we make ourself available to. God is yearning for all of His children to speak with Him, to hear His words, to search out its meaning and to walk hand in hand with Him seeing miracles come to life.

Jesus became flesh and showed Himself to the people physically and even then He was denied by His own, persecuted, rejected and killed. There is a way to truely hearing and seeing and it requires our hearts purity;

"Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God." (Matthew 5:8)

We cannot do this on our own, we need the guidance of Holy Spirit in our lives. We cannot unblock our eyes without Holy Spirit. We cannot open our ears without Holy Spirit. Let us be a people that calls out to Holy Spirit and welcomes Him into us for an anointing to commune with God in the way Jesus spoke of, to prepare us to follow Him after He is gone; "However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come."

(John 16:13)

We cannot focus on our own senses, our own abilities in the natural. We are a people who are seated in the heavenly places. We are a people who are able to have access through Jesus for full comunion! Praise Him! We all have the gift of hearing and seeing, not talking of visions only my friends. Take a look around you and you will see God! Everything we are surrounded by is a miracle of God's spoken word and we have the gift of seeing it! Being alive each day is another day to see and hear God! "The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork." (Psalms 19:1)

Sometimes Jesus still speaks to us in parables so that we may truely focus on the reasoning behind it, to dive deep in scripture or search Him out in prayer. Sometimes Jesus will show us something right in front of us as a sign and we are just overlooking it as something totally natural as we are crying out begging Him to show us the way. We must spiritually train our ears and our eyes to focus on all of what Jesus has. To know the One who speaks is to be able to see Him better. If we struggle with hearing the Lord or seeing His beauty in life, I believe the Lord is telling us to get to know Him more. The One behind it all. "the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you."

(John 14:17)

Let us put aside our doubt together and be the people who trusts in our own eyes and in our own ears. God never stops reaching out.

Prayer:

Adonai Elohim, how precious are Your words that speak to me and the sight of all creation that shows me Your grace. I long for more of You in my life. Fill me Holy Spirit with new fire and allow me to open up my own ears and eyes to what You have for me. I rebuke any ungodly spirit trying to hinder my ability to commune with You as past prophets and kings did. I speak blessings over my walk with You Lord and I believe I will begin to understand how to notice You more each day. Forgive me for deceiving myself and show me how I can be a blessing for Your people. Let my yes be a yes and my no be a no. I praise You and honor Your holy Name that gives me a deep relationship and I ask You to restore my sight and hearing to You alone. In this Name I pray, Jesus Christ my Lord. Amen.
