Glorify Jesus!

July 23, 2021

Father, glorify Your name.” Then a voice came from heaven, saying, “I have both glorified it and will glorify it again.”

~John 12:28~

Jesus surrendered Himself to come and fulfill what we could not do. His only desire was to obey His Father and free His people. There is a special kind of love in knowing your own death is coming and being willing to go through with it to make a difference. Jesus was speaking to His disciples about what was to come and He longed to bring glory to the Father's Name. When God spoke, it wasn't for Jesus to hear, for He already knew Him. "Jesus answered and said, “This voice did not come because of Me, but for your sake." (John 12:30)

The Father was making Himself heard and noticed, confirming all of what Jesus was speaking. Jesus intended to bring glory and God was saying He already had by coming into the world. Now again He would do so by resurrection and through His children afterwards. The plan was set and ready to play out. Jesus walked in faith trusting His Father. We can all learn from our Lord with how He lived up to this potential; "Yes, we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves but in God who raises the dead." (II Corinthians 1:9)

How often do we find ourselves looking to glorify Jesus? It should be daily. Living this way brings us peace that only He can give. It fills our hearts with joy that strengthens us. It makes God pleased as He is able to commune with mankind showing His power to those who do not know Him, just as He showed this day He spoke out loud for all to hear. We can imagine the thundering sounds of His voice when this happened, everyone had to of heard it. "The Lord thundered from heaven, And the Most High uttered His voice."

(II Samuel 22:14)

The sound must have shaken those who heard to the very core. This in itself brought glory. Jesus was giving His life for ours, to glorify the very Name the Father gave Him.

"For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."

(Isaiah 9:6)

Jesus was standing in place ready to fulfill all of scripture for His Name's sake. How blessed we are to have a King who is so humble, so gentle and so kind. One who stood side by side with Father creating heaven and earth. He came to give Himself for the mistakes that His own creation made. It was time for redemption. It was time for the best type of Exodus yet. We finally get to share in God's glory now and His Name is Jesus Christ. Let us choose to say these words each day we wake up and start our day, "Father, glorify Your Name." What is it we can do today to honor Jesus' most High Name? He is waiting to use us to do just that. We are living in a time when love is growing cold, becoming perverted in society and divided amongst families. God is looking for true followers of His Son to continue walking in His love, glorifying His Name as we all have a purpose to serve. The blessing comes when we do just that.

Prayer:

Father God, thank you for Jesus. Thank you for fulfilling scripture and setting us free! Without Your Name I would not know what it is to feel Your manifest glory. I pray for each day I am alive to be used by You to glorify Jesus' Name. Use me according to Your will. I surrender myself and my family to Your perfect plans, I know they will be used for our good. Let my lips speak of Your Name and bring honor to Your sacrifice, which is the good news. Show me how to humble myself more as my Lord humbled Himself. I praise You for all You have promised and answered. It is in Your Name I rejoice and lift these prayers, for I know You are faithful to answer them, Jesus Christ. Amen.
