Glass Half Full

For He satisfies the longing soul, And fills the hungry soul with goodness.

~Psalms 107:9~

I am sure you have had people ask you before if you are a "glass half full type or glass half empty type." Attitude perspective is everything. Basically the question being, are you an optimist or a pessimist? Are we going about our days counting our blessings or are we counting the things we do not have? The Lord loves to satisfy our longing souls. He wants to fill our cups. Think of your body, God's vessel, as your cup; "Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? (I Corinthians 6:19)

Have you ever had a moment where you were offered a drink and your response was "I will try a little, just pour me some." You begin to drink it and suddenly the taste is so good to you that you find yourself asking for more. The things in which Jesus has to offer us are so good that we will always want more and He is willing to continuously fill our cups as we desire; "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled." (Matthew 5:6)

What is it that we are desiring to be filled with? Let us ponder this for a moment. Are we desiring worldly possessions and its satisfaction more then we are desiring to be filled with the presence of God Himself? The glory of God far exceeds anything we "may not have." Jesus tells the Samartian woman at the well that the water He gives will be sufficient enough; "Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.” (John 4:13‭-‬14)

God gives generously and abundantly to His children more then we could ever imagine. Are we going to view the blessings we do have in Jesus as more then enough or are we going to be a people that has a "woe is me" attitude as we ask God for all kinds of things without ever feeling satisfied with what He gives us? Let our souls long for the right things; "But earnestly desire the best gifts. And yet I show you a more excellent way."

(I Corinthians 12:31)

Let us desire to ask for our cups to be filled so that we may bring God all the glory in it rather then use it for our own benefits. The fullness of peace will follow as we begin to taste and see that He is good! When we begin to drink from the cup of the Lord we will not want anything else and we will be satisfied, in fact the two cannot go hand and hand with eachother; "You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons; you cannot partake of the Lord’s table and of the table of demons."

(I Corinthians 10:21)

We must desire the things which bring us to humility and hate the things which lead us to become prideful and envious. We must reach a point where we are hungry for more of Christ and all of His goodness. We will begin to be fulfilled with even the smallest blessing when we walk with Him hand in hand; "Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!"

(II Corinthians 9:15)

God is calling us into His divine Presence, closer to His heart, aligned to His Spirit so that we may feel like our cup is always half full rather then half empty. When we get lost in our "what abouts" and allow the lies which come from the god of this world to creep in, our cup will always seem half empty. When we crave the things of our flesh, allowing useless possessions and wants to fill our prayer baskets, we will begin to be unfruitful and lack for the Kingdom; "and the cares of this world, the deceitfulness of riches, and the desires for other things entering in choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful."

(Mark 4:19)

God loves us and wants us to be filled by Him. Let our souls detach from deceit and ask God for more of what He has for us to benefit His will. Fill our cups Lord with Your goodness! Let us remain satisfied to Him alone.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I am thankful for the things in which I do have and know that it is more then sufficient enough as You are in the midst of each blessing. There is nothing I hunger more for then Your divine Presence. Lead me in the way of fulfillment in my soul and if there is any envious way in me I cast it to Your feet. Praising and worshipping You is filling my cup. Being a blessing to another one of Your children is filling my cup. Hearing Your voice is filling my cup. I declare my cup is half full and I welcome more of what You have for me. Thank you for Your goodness Jesus. I am covering myself in the Blood today declaring with a joyful attitude that I am beyond blessed by You! Thanks be to God for my salvation, security, inheritance and freedom in Jesus Mighty Name. Amen.
