Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work.
~John 4:34~
When we grow closer to know our Lord Jesus we begin to grow spiritually. We begin to feel a certain desire in our lives to fulfill a specific plan. Sometimes we can't understand at first why we suddenly feel a push in one specific direction, we want to make sure it is of God and not of our own fleshly desire. When God pushes us we typically get signs along with it. The Holy Spirit may lead us to specific scripture over and over as a way of speaking. We may get placed around certain types of people or situations that align to that specific nudge. We may even hear a still small voice telling us what to do. The more we abide in Him the more likely we will hear this voice within us. It is a strong spiritual connection to God that is very much so needed to build that relationship. "God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” (John 4:24)
A spiritual connection is needed to understand and obey the Lord. When we worship in flesh we are leaving room for places to be filled by our own desires. When we worship in spirit we are able to align to God alone and know deep within our soul what He created us individually for. How does one worship in spirit? Go away to a quiet place, a place you can be alone with just the Father. "But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly." (Matthew 6:6)
When we find a secret place of worship and prayer we can really tap into our inner spirits with God. We can know that as soon as we enter that area it is a holy place where God is ready to meet us each time. A routine with God. Its beautiful, and beautiful things happen there! God longs for a deep connection with us in spirit so that He can fill us and send us out. "Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: “Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.” (Isaiah 6:8)
Isaiah made that deep spiritual connection to God, visited with Him and submitted to the will on his life. "Send me!" shouted Isaiah, as he excitedly wanted to serve the Lord in exactly what He was calling him to do. God is always looking for His children to be sent out to minister, to work, to help others. There is one steady job of spreading the gospel as a Christian, there is another individual job each one of us is highlighted, sanctified and annointed for. We must submit to that. Sometimes you will find yourself saying "I submit to Your will for me," and later realizing that is not at all what you had thought for your life. It happened to me. We dont ask for our calling, we just strive for it. Jesus Himself was called to go to the cross and die, was that something He asked for? No. It was His annointing and call to do so for God. Jesus submitted to God and came to do the will of God. When Jesus said, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work," He was stating that this was His hunger and this should be our hunger as well. Let us gather with our Lord in secret and get to know Him personally so that we may hear what that particular calling He may have for us is, rather then turning to men for answers. Our authority does not come from men, we are not slaves to men.
"Let each one remain in the same calling in which he was called. Were you called while a slave? Do not be concerned about it; but if you can be made free, rather use it. For he who is called in the Lord while a slave is the Lord’s freedman. Likewise he who is called while free is Christ’s slave. You were bought at a price; do not become slaves of men."
(I Corinthians 7:20-23)
We answer to nobody but Jesus. We are here to join arms with our fellow believers but we answer to one God. The answer to hearing is to seek Him. "I love those who love me, And those who seek me diligently will find me." (Proverbs 8:17)
He desires us to seek Him spiritually, hear Him spiritually and serve Him in spirit and truth. We will find ourselves desiring something suddenly and asking for confirmations on this if it is His will. When everything falls into place and you find yourself being blessed after persuing said desire, you can rest assured this may just be a calling from the Lord God Almighty. If it will benefit the kingdom and bring His people closer to Him, that's a plus for Jesus. The longing in our hearts can be filled with more of His presence as we search Him, abide in Him and His word and sit in silence listening for that still small voice or response. I promise it will come to you the more you go to Him. Sometimes it may just fall into your lap abruptly. God can speak loud too. "So when the Lord saw that he turned aside to look, God called to him from the midst of the bush and said, “Moses, Moses!” And he said, “Here I am.” (Exodus 3:4)
Again, like Isaiah, Moses reponds with submission. "Here I am." The Father wants us all to submit in this way. He can take you wondrous places. He can use you for things you would of never imagined. He can change your whole thought process around. He is God and we are His. "Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us is God, who also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee." (II Corinthians 1:21-22)
Let us cast aside our flesh, our emotions, our own wills and align ourselves to His Spirit and strive to serve Him in any manner He needs us in, no matter how silly we may look.
"But Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the children of Israel out of Egypt?”
(Exodus 3:11)
No matter how uncomfortable it may be.
"By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith." (Hebrews 11:7)
No matter how many people may tell you that you can't.
"and they spoke to all the congregation of the children of Israel, saying: “The land we passed through to spy out is an exceedingly good land. If the Lord delights in us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us, ‘a land which flows with milk and honey.’ Only do not rebel against the Lord , nor fear the people of the land, for they are our bread; their protection has departed from them, and the Lord is with us. Do not fear them.”
(Numbers 14:7-9)
With God all things are possible. With God we can do what we are assigned to do for the power and love of Christ to be shown. Whatever your calling may be, learn it from God and submit to just that. He is wanting more of His children to be blessed. When we are in His will, the blessings rain down on us. When we put others first, He smiles and the kingdom receives glory! Just as it did when Jesus submitted Himself for all of us. Let us give thanks by doing the same! Hallelujah!
Prayer:
Gracious Adonai, my Father, thank you for giving me a purpose in this world. Thank you for life and joy that is of You, my strength. I long to know You intimately. I long to be filled with Your Holy Spirit to know Him personally too. Show me Holy Spirit my divine calling, allow me to hear Your voice, see Your signs and confirm the things which I am feeling in my spirit. I search You with all of my heart and know You are waiting and reaching back. I decree many blessings upon this day and pull down all strongholds on my family and I in Jesus Name. I am victorious by the the Blood of the Lamb. I am redeemed and I am here to serve You in what You need of me. Send me Lord! I wish to bring glory and honor to Your precious Name so that more people may know You personally and seek a relationship with You. Without You, I would stumble. Without You, I would fall. Draw near my King and show me what is set before me. I receive Your spiritual gifts and declare to use them for Your kingdom to be brought to this earth. In the Name above all, Jesus Christ. Amen.
