And Joshua said to the people, “Sanctify yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you.”
~Joshua 3:5~
We as a people, who are backing El Shaddai each day we live here on earth, should be a people who are sanctified completely. Sanctified of course we understand to mean "set apart," or "declared holy." Most of the year behind us up until now has been a process of sanctification. The Lord allows certain things to happen to our way of living so that we may be prepared for the time of amazing change. We are strengthened, molded and ready when that time arrives. The Lord prepared Joshua for quite some time prior to this message he received. Joshua followed Moses and witnessed much confusion in his people as they waited for God to bring them to their promised land. In the sanctification process things can be rather uncomfortable. We tend to fight in our flesh to the very act of being consecrated to God; "For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish." (Galatians 5:17)
When we move more in Spirit we begin to consecrate ourselves more to the Father and His ways and begin hating the things of the flesh. As Joshua was being sanctified, he became more faithful to what was coming. He knew that without God he could not move on with any task and he gave himself solely to Him. As he drew nearer to his reward with his people, the Lord spoke these words through Joshua, his faithful servant. The Lord was calling all of the israelites to sanctify themselves and to be ready for what God was about to do for them. It would be supernatural, it would be powerful and it would be all for God's glory!
Do we believe that the times we are in now is a preparation of supernatural wonders of God to come? There is glory on the way my friends and God is saying be ready and set yourselves apart from everything and everyone who do not wish to cross over to the other side with God and with you. We cannot afford to allow people to stop us. We cannot allow words to hinder our faith in stepping out with Jesus in what He is calling us to do. We cannot partake in habitual sin and produce a fleshy outcome while we are waiting on God's move. We must remain completely Holy for Him, no matter how "silly we may look to others." This is a blessing. Our spiritual obedience is everything to the Lord.
"and the father of circumcision to those who not only are of the circumcision, but who also walk in the steps of the faith which our father Abraham had while still uncircumcised." (Romans 4:12)
Sometimes we will be asked to say something that is not of this world, to act in prayer over someone who may think we are a bit "crazy" or declare in faith the opposite of something that may be trying to take another one's life even when others submit in despair. We are not going to know exactly what is on the other side but we can trust in the One who would never direct us towards danger. We must trust in Him, we must get to really know Him and believe in everything He is doing in us; "When you walk, your steps will not be hindered, And when you run, you will not stumble." (Proverbs 4:12)
Joshua believed in God's faithfulness and His power. He took that step out in faith and managed to cross the Jordan just as promised; "Then the priests who bore the ark of the covenant of the Lord stood firm on dry ground in the midst of the Jordan; and all Israel crossed over on dry ground, until all the people had crossed completely over the Jordan." (Joshua 3:17)
The entire time they moved they kept the ark of the covenant beside them. The glory of the Lord went with them and parted their way to their destiny. In the same way we now have a better covenant with Jesus Christ; "by so much more Jesus has become a surety of a better covenant." (Hebrews 7:22)
How blessed are we? We have the Son of God beside us calling us to consecrate ourselves to Him so that He may part our way and show us wonders of Heaven. It is coming my friends! We must believe in the Lord's promises and sanctify ourselves only for Him; "because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.” (I Peter 1:16)
Let us ask ourselves these questions:
Is there anything we are doing in this time that may be unholy to God? Is there anyway we may be speaking that is offensive to the Almighty?
Are we attempting to take control when God is saying, "give it to Me?"
Is pride causing us to waver and put up a blocking wall?
Are there any hinderances keeping us from full faith in the One who brought Joshua and his people through the Jordan on dry land? Let us be the people that awaken to spiritual strength! Let us believe that soon God is about to show us wonders! Time to continue fully consecrating ourselves and living holy lives each day awaiting the moment Jesus tells us to cross over. The glory will be all for Him and the reward will be worth every trial, attack and accusation we put up with to get there.
Prayer:
Gracious God, thank you for Your incredible Sovereign power that never fails me! I stand in full belief of Your Holiness and Purity and I pray to be completely enveloped by it each day. I trust in my Lord who is able to defeat all of my foes. I refuse to listen to the lies of the enemy spoken through people as he attempts to diminish my faith. In the Name of Jesus I renounce all of these words and emotions. I come into full agreement with the Father who is still able to part the sea of confusion bringing me on dry land of confidence. I am excited to see where You are taking me Lord. I vow to follow You there no matter how uncomfortable it may be doing so, You are faithful to me. I call upon heaven's angels to guard my loved ones in protection as I fulfill the work of Jesus today. I am praising you always for the purpose You have preordained me for. Thank you for loving me! In the Name of King Jesus, I pray and receive all blessings He freely gives. Amen.
