Compassion Overcame

April 23, 2021

Then Jesus, moved with compassion, stretched out His hand and touched him, and said to him, “I am willing; be cleansed.”

~Mark 1:41~

When Jesus came across this leper who proceeded to kneel down at His feet asking to be cleansed, Jesus was moved with compassion. The sight of one of His very own children suffering from leprosy moved Jesus and He proceeded to speak a word of healing to this man. "I am willing," Jesus says. Jesus' will is always for us to be healed and made whole. Timing may be different for some, it may come in many forms, there may be deeper things to get to before healing manifests, but healing is most definitely for all of God's children. The whole purpose for His arrival was to do so; "The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed."

(Luke 4:18)

Jesus knew this man would go on to disobey Him with the instructions He gave as to not tell anyone what had just happened, rather to go to the priest as commanded by Moses. It was not yet Jesus' time to go public and the leper decided to tell the crowd anyway. The compassion in Jesus overrides His own realization of how He may be disobeyed.

He loves us so much that even when He knows we may not listen, He decides to bless us anyway. "For He says to Moses, “I will have mercy on whomever I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whomever I will have compassion.” (Romans 9:15)

As we choose to follow the Lord in doing the very works He came to do we too should be driven by compassion; even as we come across folks who may not appreciate, obey or understand. We shall have our compassion overcome all other emotions within ourselves. This is the way of Christ. Too often we doubt in our own ability to just love the person we may be instucted to minister to. Today in 2021, we are afraid to go near sick people let alone touch them to pray. What else would the devil have then to stop us from walking in faith and setting others free? This brings satan joy and us divided. When Jesus came to the leper, He did not hesitate or step back. He did not tell him to go to the priest first. He was not concerned about the contagion in this man. He simply spoke healing into him with love and compassion. I know you may be thinking, "but He is Jesus and we are only humans who can so easily become ill." Let me ask you this, "was Jesus not a man, who came to walk in flesh and be tempted in all ways as we are?" Indeed He was. "Therefore, in all things He had to be made like His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. For in that He Himself has suffered, being tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted."

(Hebrews 2:17‭-‬18)

So if therefore, Christ dwelt in flesh, had suffered and was tempted just as we can be; what makes us believe we can only suffer but cannot heal our own illnesses or that of others? If He being like us moved with compassion to cleanse a leper, we as His followers have the same ability to move on others to do the same. We must truely believe my friends. If we go about our lives simply believing we are here to just suffer, we have need of true understanding of the gospel and what keys we hold on to. "Let him who is taught the word share in all good things with him who teaches." (Galatians 6:6)

Jesus wants to share all that He has brought to this world and give us authority to use it in the same manner. We must do it in love and use our faith regardless of how others may view us or the very act itself. It shall be for the Glory of God! God will move if He is using it for His Son's honor. I testify personally of this in several occasions. God is faithful even when we are not.

"God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord." (I Corinthians 1:9)

When we are faithful back and walking beside Him, Glory will fall. Sick will be healed, lost will be saved, dead will rise and faith wavering christians will stand up! Let us have compassion to overcome the devil's attempts to make us afraid to move or to be near those who may be "contagious" or "different." We may just be that very key God is using to reach that soul. If Jesus had just backed away from this leper, would he have witnessed God's glory? Why should we back away from those who need us? I pray that compassion fills all of us to overcome this world and move God's Kingdom to bring others to the feet of Jesus. I pray a great increase in true faith to understand the full gospel. Christ did not die in vain, He is the permanent Victor. When we are backing Him we win everytime!

Prayer:

Father God, thank you for Your great compassion that moved so many to be healed, raised and forgiven. It is because of Your compassion I live today. Even at times as I disobeyed Your instruction, You stayed beside me and lifted me back up again. I choose to do the same for those around me each day I am alive in this world. Im praising You for showing me how to truely follow You. I pray increase to the Body of Christ to awaken to the understanding of the true power that is in Us, that even though we live in this fallen flesh we have the Spirit of God inside that brings divine healing and protection to ourselves and others. As I move today in faith I do so for the glory of God. I love You my King. I cast all of my burdens at Your feet and walk in Your path to victory. In Your Compassionate Faithful Name I pray, Jesus Christ. Amen.
