Comforting In Christ

September 20, 2021

Therefore comfort one another with these words.

~I Thessalonians 4:18~

The words of God are in our midst. Spoken and written down for us to meditate on, not only for ourselves but for others to be encouraged through us. We are comforted by Jesus in our times of worry; "Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression, But a good word makes it glad." (Proverbs 12:25)

We are comforted in times fear attempts to show its ugly face; "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind." (II Timothy 1:7)

We are comforted in times of uncertain moments, not knowing which step to take next; "A man’s heart plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps." (Proverbs 16:9)

We are comforted in the middle of pure chaos and despair; "The Lord will give strength to His people; The Lord will bless His people with peace." (Psalms 29:11)

No matter what our situation or condition, God has a word for us. It is our calling to take those comforts and turn them around to comfort others we see in trouble. We are all brothers and sisters. We are His Body and we are designed to worship and serve as One. I know each of us know at least a couple of people that could use comfort right now. The Lord is asking us to grab them, hug them, speak words of encouragement and pray for them. It is time we do our part to comfort another. "It shall come to pass in the day the Lord gives you rest from your sorrow, and from your fear and the hard bondage in which you were made to serve."

(Isaiah 14:3)

Many out there are hopeless and we carry the Lord's truth in the palm of our hands and in the center of our hearts. Let us share. Remember how we were taught that sharing is caring? When we put others before ourselves, God intervenes and comforts us as well. "Let them do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share."

(I Timothy 6:18)

The Lord delights in us as we comfort His children. Our desires will be full when we do. It genuinely lifts our spirits to watch others feel joy, if it doesn't then I suggest asking the Lord what is causing that reaction. That needs to go. For God is love and we love others because He loves us. We cannot do it on our own. We were created this way. Who is on your heart right now to give words of comfort to? Who is Holy Spirit pressing on your heart? There is always someone who needs the Lord's comfort and it is up to us to show Him to others or not.

God gave us gifts, let us give back. Let us watch as God's people see the light and feel the love penetrating them enough to feel comfortable with perfect shalom. We are the messengers, we are the deliverers of truth. Join me in taking that seriously to heart.

Prayer:

Gracious God, thank you for comforting me with all that You are and all in Your written word. All that You speak is truth and I am blessed to know You. Use me and guide me in comforting many others who need Your joy, Your shalom. I want to be a useful piece to Christ's Body. I desire to serve others before myself, show me who needs me most right now. Let them see You, feel You and want more of You. All of Your faithfulness is in front of us and we must remember to show the world the good news. Bless my brethren. Bless those who don't know or believe in You. I speak salvation into their homes. Guide the children in spirit to rise up and comfort eachother. I praise You for all the love You share which is everlasting. I receive Your direction today and always in Jesus Name. Amen.
