Cling To The King

April 28, 2021

Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good.

~Romans 12:9~

Look around in this world and you will see many options to becoming overwhelmed, feeling unsettled or turning to bad influence. There are many things used as a "way to receive joy and peace." Commercial adds for medicine to combat depression/anxiety. Adds for beauty enhancers to make yourself feel pretty. Coveting things we wish we had because we believe it will make us "feel complete." I can say that there was a time I tried all of these things in my past and I either ended up getting sick or bored, feeling worse or wishing I could just be content with what I did have. The devil is sneaky to drag people down further and further into a false sense of hope. Many of us will fall into his traps and end up feeling more empty then when we first started searching for that quick fix; "lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices." (II Corinthians 2:11)

Trust me, I speak directly from experience. The evils of this world show just how hypocritical we can become. We can get sucked into a product as a result of someone else wanting to make a quick buck, in the end they could care less if we were satisfied or not. The pharmaceutical company's greed outweigh their ability to truely love the customer. "A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things."

(Matthew 12:35)

The one and only thing that truely filled that hole in me that the world itself caused to begin with, was Jesus Christ. He truely saved me from dying. I was ready to die, to take my own life and Jesus filled me with His peace. He took all my burdens, just as He promises He will do for all of us. "Cast your burden on the Lord , And He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved." (Psalms 55:22)

Jesus is standing idly by watching all of His children struggle and reaching out to fill all of the voids the devil brought forth. He wants us to receive Him so that He may give us true peace and genuine joy that the world can never give us. We can try buying any product, taking any drug, putting on any pretty item or even relying on a friend to feel complete; in the end we need nothing other then Jesus. I again, speak from experience. Now I am not saying we are not to enjoy certain things in this world, as Jesus came to give us abundance and to make us smile with these things. I am simply saying these come last, the Lord comes first. When we put Him first and foremost in our heart and we follow His calling on our life we will begin to watch as He brings blessings to us without even going out to search for them. They will end up right in front of us. Again, speaking from experience. He is a great Provider when we are faithful and trust in Him; "I will abundantly bless her provision; I will satisfy her poor with bread." (Psalms 132:15)

Just as the manna from heaven and the bread Jesus multiplied for His people; God is still capable of bringing us an abundance of what we need and even what we do not need all to see a smile on our face. In the world we are to force ourselves to feel "peace," when we follow Jesus peace will come naturally and efficiently. "But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts." (Romans 13:14)

Too often our flesh will attempt to give into a desire to feel good for a moment. This is a battle we rage in as humans but as we focus on Jesus everyday and welcome Him into our lives more He will keep us from stumbling.

"Your words have upheld him who was stumbling, And you have strengthened the feeble knees." (Job 4:4)

We must truely cling to Jesus each day, for we are weak on our own. It takes but a moment for our flesh to give into worldly lusts. We must hate the things He hates and love the things He loves. When I think of the word cling, I picture being so tightly wrapped around it that it becomes part of us. This is exactly what we need of the Lord. To be completely joined together with Him, aligned to Him mind, body, soul and spirit. The more we cling to Him the less we will even want to run to anything other then Him. Let us abhor what is evil, for all it brings us is a false sense of peace and it leads us on a merry go round of sadness. We have no need to search here or there, the Lord is right with us waiting for us to cling to Him. He can give us all that we desire.

"Delight yourself also in the Lord , And He shall give you the desires of your heart."

(Psalms 37:4)

The only thing the Lord cannot do is lie. For if He says He will do it, He certainly will.

Let us detach ourselves from the evil devices of this world, turn away from hypocrites and cling to Jesus our King.

Prayer:

Our Father in Heaven, thank you for supplying me all the provisions necessary to live and even those You give just for me to smile. You are truely so good to me and I did not deserve it. I am grateful to know that I can always cling to You and days will always be brighter because of it. I sought You and You answered and I know that You always will. Lord, help me diminish anything in my life that is evil and only bringing me down rather then lifting me up. I long to be filled with more of You. I pray blessings on this beautiful day that You have made and I receive all that You have for me, not as the world offers. I follow You, Jesus, and I believe that everything else will fall into place so perfectly. There is no other genuine peace that I can have if it is not from You. I give praises to Your most Holy Name as it fills every empty spot that ever inhabited my being. In this Name I declare a mighty spirit filled day, Jesus Christ, my King to whom I shall cling to. Amen.
