Blessed Good Friday, Thank You Humble King

April 2, 2021

He was oppressed and He was afflicted, Yet He opened not His mouth; He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, And as a sheep before its shearers is silent, So He opened not His mouth.

~Isaiah 53:7~

Today is the day of mourning, yes even though our King lives we remember His great sacrifice today. Not a somber type of grief yet a grief that says "thank you dear Lord for suffering for me." The way He gave up His Body on that rugged cross. This prophetic picture Isaiah paints expresses exactly how they led our King to that cross to be murdered. On this day, Good Friday, we ask ourselves; why call it Good? It is the very simple fact that the way He gave Himself up for us is out of the goodness of His own heart. He truely loves us this much. To die for us. I am sure each one of us has a relative or child that we would "die for." I am sure you are thinking of that very person right now as you read this. Jesus had each and everyone of us in His mind as He prepared Himself to die for us. "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

(Romans 5:8)

As He took every ounce of pain, infirmity and sin upon His Body He still thought of all of us. His head flashed images of the lost children of God who may be reconciled to Him after He took His last breath. He imagined seeing us all face to face one day in eternity as He laid down His life for us who would of never had a chance to see God. God is so Good. Today is a day we remember how He was led to the slaughter as the great Lamb. The words say "He opened not His mouth." Jesus didn't utter a word of resistance as He was on that path to Golgotha. As they shouted at Him, spit on Him and mocked Him; Jesus opened not His mouth. "To him who strikes you on the one cheek, offer the other also. And from him who takes away your cloak, do not withhold your tunic either." (Luke 6:29)

Towards the One who never sinned and was purely innocent, they stripped Him of His garments and gambled eachother for them. He opened not His mouth. He was humble to the very end. "And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross."

(Philippians 2:8)

Who are we to think we can complain or resist as we remember the Lord God Almighty come in the flesh to suffer and bleed out, never uttering a word against us.

In fact the very ones who led Him to this slaughter He was forgiving as He bled.

"Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.” And they divided His garments and cast lots."

(Luke 23:34)

I find it that most of us, even as we would die for our loved ones; could never put ourselves in a position to do so for a person who did the worst of sin. Jesus did. He opened not His mouth. He knew what His Father had planned and He pushed through so that the Glory may be to Him, that He may receive us as little children and sit down in the heavenlies with Him.

"and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus." (Ephesians 2:6)

This is also the day, Good Friday, when Good truely won victoriously. The day the demons trembled and satan was defeated. Good vs. Evil. Good always wins. Even now in the year 2021, the demons tremble as we celebrate and remember. They too remember. They attempt their attacks on the Body of Christ yet they prevail not as we stand firm in what Jesus did for us. It is finished! Glory be to the Highest! The veil is torn, we are granted access and satan has no authority over us! "Then the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom."

(Mark 15:38)

Then the ones who led Jesus to the cross understood what truely they had done and God got all the glory.

"So when the centurion, who stood opposite Him, saw that He cried out like this and breathed His last, he said, “Truly this Man was the Son of God!” (Mark 15:39)

This was a day of great grief for all of Jesus' people, little did they know the best part was yet to come. Blessings on this Good Friday my family in Christ. Let us remember the incredible selfless sacrifice our King gave for us. Let us hug our brothers and sisters tight and rejoice in front of the enemy and let us get ready for the days ahead as we grasp our freedom through the Blood of Jesus!

"So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit." (John 19:30)

Prayer:

Gracious King, thank You for the incredible sacrifice as You were led as a Lamb to the slaughter for me. Thank you for loving me so deeply that by Your Blood I am free and given eternal life. Without this day of rememberance, we would still be bound. The devil is defeated and has no authority to chain me! I receive my freedom in You and I give all praise to You for Your strong humility that never wavered a second. Help me to carry that same humility as I walk this world in the path You made for me. I love You Jesus, the honor is Yours and today I mourn yet also celebrate as I remember that last breath You took for me to be Yours today. Thank you for blessing my family and I. Glorify Your Name today through me so that they may see Your light and power. In Your Amazing Name I pray, Jesus Christ. Amen.
