And as for you, be fruitful and multiply; Bring forth abundantly in the earth And multiply in it.”
~Genesis 9:7~
Today is a special day to remember all of the mothers out there. A beautiful day of remembrance to those who have become mothers, have been mothers or are trying to be mothers. All of which are honored in the Lord's eyes. God knew how important of a role women would be in this world as He brought forth Eve from Adam's rib bone; "And the Lord God said, “ It is not good that man should be alone; I will make him a helper comparable to him.” (Genesis 2:18)
God strategically designed male and female to bring forth children. Future generations depend on mothers, after all we can't have children without them! His plans are always perfect and His own nurturing tendancy brought forth in the picture of earthly mothering. God satisfied with creation instructed clearly for mankind to be fruitful and multiply, to declare the earth as He intended. Of course the first woman was deceived, yet still went on to multiply. I believe God could bring forth creation in anyway He choses, He could so easily speak and make a person be; yet He choses to do so in such a meaningful manner. Creating relationships where cookie cutter people could be in place. We have true souls implanted into each mothers womb, brought here to make choices of their own to follow God's will or to steer away. He is not one to force anything. He is gentle as a mother; "The Lord is merciful and gracious, Slow to anger, and abounding in mercy."
(Psalms 103:8)
A mother tends to harbor the same type of mercy in a way as a child acts up or repeatedly does what he/she is instructed not to do; our response tends to be the same each time, "just don't let me catch you doing that again." Jesus does this with us everyday, doesn't He? His patience and mercy are that of a gentle mother who only looks out for the best interest of His children. He is slow to anger and abounding in His mercy. Our mothers wipe our tears, lead us in the way of purity as best they can, protect them from outside elements and hold our hands in dangerous territory. As we celebrate mothers of this world, we celebrate the Lord. It is a perfect representation of Him as we strive to be the best we can be for our children. For those who may have lost a little one, who may not be a mother yet or whose mother went to be with the Lord; I want to take time now and send you my deepest love and blessing and let you know God still celebrates you. You are equally as special to Him who is your Mother and Father; "Now it is true that I am a close relative; however, there is a relative closer than I." (Ruth 3:12)
He sees you and He rewards you still.
A mother is important for many things. A mother brings life with God, she keeps a family knit together with organization, she cooks, she cleans, she cries for her young and her old and she never gives up on them even if they give up on her. The pleasing aroma of a mother is sent up to God's throne and He rewards the many hardships of raising children with His blessings and His unending love. We mimic His work as we strive for a good and faithful home life.
"Her children rise up and call her blessed; Her husband also, and he praises her."
(Proverbs 31:28)
When people see us raising Godly children, they see Jesus in us. They notice His light and they hunger it for themselves. We as mothers can bring forth future generations to represent God in the same for their young.
This is being fruitful. This is multiplying.
The Lord smiles at a wise woman whether she is a mother or not. "The wise woman builds her house, But the foolish pulls it down with her hands." (Proverbs 14:1)
Our very own Messiah was brought here through the womb of an obedient woman. Again, God could of came anyway He chose, He is God after all. He chose to come in the form of a newborn babe, the same way He tells you and I to multiply is the same way the Messiah came to save us. How humble of God to have subjected Himself to learning how to walk, eat, crawl and be a part of time in general; "For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin." (Hebrews 4:15)
Jesus sympathizes as a mother would for having gone through all the tests and trials of the earth. As we honor mothers today, let us take a look how God has used them to present Himself. Let us thank God for the patience we receive when we just want to implode on our children. Let us desire to raise our children to be warriors for Christ. Let us fight for what is ours in Him and receive the blessings He has for each of us. Believe in the will of God. He tells us all to be fruitful and multiply. Shun evil which tells you that you can't or won't. Let's align ourselves together to the One true God who can do the impossible; "But Jesus looked at them and said to them, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” (Matthew 19:26)
We can perservere in that trust for Him to follow through with it. Happy Mothers Day my friends! May God Bless you and multiply you for His glory!
Prayer:
Lord God, thank you for being my Father and my Mother. Thank you for the nurturing side of myself that can only come from You. I strive to be a godly mother for example to my children to be godly parents to theirs. Help me rise up a future generation of fighters for Jesus. I pray for all of my sisters in Christ to continue enduring the cross they may bear for Your glory. Shine the light of Your motherly instinct amongst us and give us the strength to perservere. I believe You want to multiply us and I believe all things are possible where the devil says it will never happen. I come into agreement with Your word spoken over my life as a wife, mother and servant of You. Help me to bear good fruits as a mother You created me to be. I receive comfort and peace today as I rest in Your presence and spend time with my family. I know that wherever I am, even when I am not with them, I have You. I praise Your mercy and grace as I continue living for the Kingdom. I pray this in Your most nurturing, patient and loving Name, Jesus Christ. Amen.
