Be Careful Who You Listen To

August 1, 2021

Now therefore, listen to me, my children; Pay attention to the words of my mouth: Do not let your heart turn aside to her ways, Do not stray into her paths;

~Proverbs 7:24‭-‬25~

Solomon wrote about the need for wisdom and God's instruction. He writes this chapter of proverbs on an "adulteress woman." Really we can notice that he is not speaking of women in particularly as he speaks in parables like our Lord did so. Are we understanding who this adulteress woman could be in our lives? Is it a colleague? A family member? A church leader? The news media? There are many factors in which we can become lured away by smooth words that do not align to what God is really telling us;

"For there are many insubordinate, both idle talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision." (Titus 1:10)

Are we listening to people more then we are seeking Jesus intimately? These warnings throughout scripture are very important as we come into these days ahead. Much information is floating around. People are becoming distracted by internet, tv, hearsay and their own bitter roots. God is revealing the true intentions of the hearts in these last days. He is waking people up who have been asleep for so long and He is using willing workers of Christ Jesus to move the atmosphere. Jesus warned us in parables in this same manner; "Therefore what will the owner of the vineyard do? He will come and destroy the vinedressers, and give the vineyard to others." (Mark 12:9)

If we take what God has given us and allow ourselves to be steered in another direction, it can be very damaging for us. We need to be gathering closer to the Lord and further from the things this world has provided. What would happen to those of us who spend more time on our electronic devices if God were to decide to shut it down? If we put in as much time to the actual word of God, deep in prayer and in nature itself; we would have more understanding if what is being said to us is truth of false.

"We are of God. He who knows God hears us; he who is not of God does not hear us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error." (I John 4:6)

The Lord wishes that we truely separate ourselves from the crowd. Following Him instead of them. All too often we hear about opinions on covid, masks, politics and injustice. Do we think these debates are pleasing to God right now? Is this bringing glory to Him when we waste our time away in fear, judgement, back biting and division? The messages we should be discussing more is the gospel itself, the love of God, the fact that prayers are heard and answered when we believe and the return of our Lord. So many are turning aside to satan's devices and becoming fooled. This is exactly what he wants us to do. For we are God's temple. If the temple is becoming insufficient then the enemy is gaining more access to deceive while driving people against people.

"Now brother will deliver up brother to death, and a father his child; and children will rise up against parents and cause them to be put to death." (Matthew 10:21)

My friends, please be alert to the words of our Lord. I pray that the hunger for Christ far exceeds our hunger for anything else. Pay attention as Solomon states, keep watch and focus on Jesus above what you may be hearing in the world today. Many will deceive us if we don't. The only path we should stay on is the path to righteousness, the way of our own calling with God and obedience to Him. Let us not turn aside to foolish things, lest we begin to stray from Him for an adulteress generation.

Prayer:

Abba Father, thank you for Your words that You have given me to follow and meditate on so that I may only follow You. Help me to keep my eyes focused on You so that I will discern instantly whether something aligns to You or does not. I surrender to Your lead and I ask that what so ever I do will bring glory to Your Name. I ask for increased understanding. I pray for my eyes to be blind to evil and my ears to be deafened to error and rumors. I want to walk in holiness and purity for You have called me to. Praise be to You for Your everlasting love, my King who is the Truth, Jesus Christ. Amen.
