“I will be a Father to you, And you shall be My sons and daughters, Says the Lord Almighty.”
~II Corinthians 6:18~
Today is the day we celebrate the fathers in our life, whether it be biological, step or spiritual fathers. We can love and appreciate all of them who sacrifice their time and give us love in each of our days. The time spent teaching us pointers of survival, giving us shoulders to cry on, making sure we are safe, working hard to supply food to the table and being the family protector is exactly why we celebrate the fathers in our lives. As we sit back today with our husbands or fathers eating meals made by appreciation and reminiscing of times past, we can thank our great Father in heaven for all of it! Abba the Almighty Creator is our Great Father; "For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb." (Psalms 139:13)
Some of us reading may have fathers that have passed on, some may have distant relationships or may not even have one at all that they have known. If we are struggling on this day because it reminds us of a what we may not have, let us remember what we all do have; God in Heaven. He is the Father that carries us everywhere we go; "For You are my rock and my fortress; Therefore, for Your name’s sake, Lead me and guide me."
(Psalms 31:3)
He is the Father who knows every tear we shed; "You number my wanderings; Put my tears into Your bottle; Are they not in Your book?" (Psalms 56:8)
He is the Father who guards our bodies as we rest; "A little sleep, a little slumber, A little folding of the hands to rest." (Proverbs 24:33)
He is the Father that provides all we need for each day; "I will abundantly bless her provision; I will satisfy her poor with bread."
(Psalms 132:15)
There are many things we receive from our Abba above, there are many reasons to praise Him and appreciate Him each day. This day is about fathers in general but to us who follow the Lord, it is far beyond even this earth. For God so loved the world He gave us all of these things and made a way to become His children too! How blessed we are and how beautiful this day is as we sit in the sunlight the Father has given to us so we may celebrate in His Presence comfortably, thanking Him for the dads in our lives and most of all for Him.
As we cry out "Abba Father," to Him we can give this day right back to Him and praise Him for allowing us this gift to call us sons and daughters; "The father of the righteous will greatly rejoice, And he who begets a wise child will delight in him." (Proverbs 23:24)
That is an amazing thing to celebrate and as He provides the physical to us, He too provides the spiritual each day. Let us honor God today as we look at our own fathers and husbands, for exactly what He is; the Alpha and the Omega, Creator of the universe, Protector, Friend, Provider and Abba whom our spirits have the connection to cry out to and He is never away. As we smile and think about the "good times" we shared with our fathers, step fathers or spiritual fathers let us focus on Jesus as the One who allowed us to see those good moments as a reflection of Him. The One which shined forth through Him is now within us and He blesses us each and everyday.
"And I have declared to them Your name, and will declare it, that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them.”
(John 17:26)
Happy Fathers day to all of my friends and family out there and May the Lord God Almighty fill your hearts with overflowing love and peace today on this day we all look to our Father in Heaven and say Amen!
Prayer:
My dearest Abba, I am so thankful for a Strong, Mighty, Merciful and Loving Father who makes me lie down and rise up each day. Thank you for my earthly father whom raised me up and taught me. Father, I dedicate this day to the one who brought me to this earth and to the One who made it possible for that to be since the beginning of time. I hope to glorify my Father in Heaven each day I am alive and do Your perfect will for my life. I know one day You shall wipe my tears away permanently and I will be with You forever. What a gift to praise Your Name and I say Happy Father's Day to You! Thank you for all You do for me and through me, in the Name of Your Son Jesus Christ I pray. Amen.
